CDO arranger and manager strike a settlement agreement with the SEC

A bank, its former CDO structurers and a CDO manager yesterday reached agreements to settle charges levelled against them by the SEC.

I don't recall seeing the "mild punishment" of individuals in the past similar to what we see here. Fining an individual $125,000 and suspending him/her for a year is more than a token penalty. But it's not what one expects for clear and deliberate wrongdoing.

Agree it would be good to see the allegation against S&P tested in court .... my guess is that this is still progressing ....

interestingly, S&P bears no consequences for not revising ratings based on the ACTUAL portfolio...or is this only part of story?
